This one is for the early birds who go to work early and get off in the mid-afternoon and want to ride before dinner. Recent Bootcamp graduates and beginners are encouraged to come out for this social paced ride. Ride time will be approx 1 1/2 hours so we can get home in time for dinner.
Having fun is the main goal of this ride and the twisty trails at Lake Sawyer ensure that we will be successful! The trails here are relatively flat, allowing us to concentrate on increasing our skills at clearing small to medium obstacles and becoming more fluid riders.
Come out and see for yourself why Lake Sawyer is currently ranked #1 as BBTC’s Top Trail. http://www.bbtc.org/ridestats/show_stats.php
Meet at the Black Diamond Bike Shop on Maple Valley Highway - in the back parking lot. Look for the guy in the white Toyota Tacoma pick-up with a canopy - that's me - Bill Brace.

Summer is almost here and we're gearing up to get you ready for a great riding season! In this class, you will master the skills you'll need to ride safely on single track trails. In addition, we'll teach you how to manage the slippery stuff, how to ride over slippery rocks, roots and logs. The best way to build a solid skill base is help you practice the skills and drills you'll learn in class on the trail.

Ladies! It appears NW Timber still isnt opened. So our route is still TBD. This will be an intermediate paced ride with few stops. You must be comfortable with steady climbing as well as fast descents! This ride starts with a long and steady fireroad climb up 1000ft, approx 45-60 min. I then plan to descend down Preston at a fairly good clip with few stops. From there we can either climb back up Preston, or take the Power Line Trail down. This is an intermediate level ride and we'll need to keep things moving to get out before dark. you might want to bring your lights to be safe. Plan to meet at 6pm and roll no later than 6:15pm. Call with questions 425-647-4113. |

Need to build your climbing and endurance? I do. This ride is for slower advanced beginner/intermediate riders who find it difficult (or impossible) to keep up on climbs of any length and want to work on it in a pretty setting.
The ride will be about 2-3 hours of steady riding with regular climbs on single track. The first mile or so is challenging. Some will need to walk parts, or take breathers. The intention is to keep moving, even at a crawl, but we will regroup regularly. No one left behind.
Grand Ridge is a nice place to do this. A very pretty setting and the climb gets easier after a certain point. The downhill is a very fun payoff.
Rain cancels. I will email participants early afternoon if I'm going to cancel.
Email with questions. Call me at 206 941-9549, if you are going to be late or need further directions. (Click for more info)

The SGB is going to remain at Sawyer until NW Timber reopens at which time we'll resume the alternating format between between Tiger and Sawyer for the summer. The ride also continues to fluctuate as far as day of the week....we'll try for Thursdays, but be sure to check weekly because the ride will occasionally pop up on a Tuesday.
Woodinville had the weekly Thrilla....Tolt had the weekly Tuesdays @ Tolt, Seatac had Mondays @ Seatac (every winter) and now there is a weekly Gut Buster...My co-leaders are Dennis L and Derek C and we have each committed to this ride on a weekly basis. One of us, if not all three of us, will show up to lead this ride each week.
At Sawyer we generally try to ride for 1.5 - 2 hours and do as many miles as the group feels comfortable with.
We'll meet at the bike shop in Black Diamond - right off of highway 169 just south of the coal car.
Feel free to E-mail me with questions and I hope to see some of you on SGB evenings!!

I'm heading East for the weekend and need some ride time + its sunny over the hill!
Not done much around this area before but feel confident about the ride. Lots of climbing and some fun descents and although I'll keep moving at a resonable pace I'm in no particular hurry.
Bring plenty water, food and the essentials as it can get hot out of the trees. Not meant to be a scorcher but you never know.
Its a big climb so no beginners please - sorry.
I'm also trying out a Niner Rip 9 which ought to be fun.
I'm likely traveling over there on Fri evening and camping nearby - TBA.
Email for the detail but there's a lot on the Wiki - 18 miles and 4k climb ought to keep you honest.

Are you new to mountain biking and want to find new places to ride? Lake Sawyer is a fun place to ride, with something for every skill level. On this ride, we will concentrate on Sawyer’s less technical trails.
Meet, ready to ride, at 11:00 at the Black Diamond Bike Shop’s new location (directions on the website). If you haven’t been there before, follow the directions on the site and allow time to get lost. It’s a hard place to find the first time.
Call or email Jerry at (206) 396-7409, or Fredrika at fsprengle@hotmail.com or 206 941-9549, if you have questions, are going to be late, or need further directions.
Optional stop afterwards for food and drink and comparing notes at the pub in the same area as the Bike shop.

Tuesday @ Tolt with a little Leap Frog action.
Leap Frog Rides make for a great 2hr ride where you just ride along with everyone playing ride leader until the next intersection.
The pace is set by each rider as they take the lead. This does not mean you have to go all out, you can take your time and pick any pace you would like.

The pace is Moderate as we try to cover 12 - 14 miles in 2hrs.
Very little to no stops, call out all turns and regroup at all major intersections.
If you know the trails and are interested in leading a more social paced group, instead of riding with the moderate group we can split into two groups.

Hey Ladies! Lets ride Tolt Froggy style!!! What does that mean? It means we will take turns "leap frogging" the leader. At each intersection, the current leader drops to the back of the line and the next person in line takes charge! Lets try to keep the pace moderate and get a good workout! (That doesnt mean we wont be "social" though.) ; )
Rules of the game:
1) The current ride leader gets to choose the route and the pace.
2) Those leading must drop to the back of the line at each intersection, even if you only went 10 feet.
3) If you wish to ride, but don't want to lead when your turn comes, then just let the person behind you take the lead and fall to the back.
4) If you don't know the trails, no worries, just pick a direction and we'll find our way back to the start at the end.
5) Always take note of who the rider is in front of you and behind you, so we don't loose anyone.
6) Have Fun!!!
It gets dark early in the woods these days, so bring lights if you have them. Heavy Rain Cancels, Drizzle/Sprinkles the ride is still on. Click on link for directions. Call with questions 425-647-4113.

We will be working with crew from the Cle Elum ranger district building puncheon (think low ladder bridge) over wet areas and doing some tread work. There is a possibility of camping on the trail in the Silver Creek basin. The Forest Service is going to pack in all the tools and supplies ahead of time, and I'll bring in the food. So if you can get a little extra gear on your camel back we'll spend the night by one of the high meadows. Or, you can just join us for the day, do some work, and then continue your ride. If you stay we'll probably continue working on Sunday as the trail needs lots of help. |

NOTE DATE CHANGE!
Let's try this again. Hopefully NW Timber will be open by then. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
Let's ride Iverson! It's the least popular trail out of the big 3 and in my opinion, the most fun.
We'll start by climbing the road towards Poo-Poo Point and jump in at the Iverson trailhead. After that we'll head up the other road and do the usual bomb down Preston and finish up on NW Timber. The days are shorter by this point so we'll want to keep the pace steady to make it through all three trails. We'll re-group occasionally but this will be a faster-paced ride.
If you haven't ridden Iverson before, it is a technical up and down trail with some steep switchbacks thrown in, so you need to be comfortable on that type of terrain. If you aren't able to move quickly through this type of terrain then this may not be the ride for you. I want to emphasize that we won't be stopping very often. This ride is geared towards the advanced intermediate rider and is not appropriate for beginner's, "tweeners" or the average intermediate rider. I am not a super fast climber but I'm not that slow either. I don't want to set the expectation too high, but the goal of this ride is to push ourselves outside of our comfort zone a bit.
Please be ready to ride at 6pm sharp. I'll send out my phone number the day of the ride to those signed up. If you've got any questions please email me and I'll do my best to answer them. See you there!
Note: LIGHTS will be REQUIRED on this ride now that it's so late in the season.

Ladies, we're going to ride Ed's with minimum stopping and breaks. We won't be busting booty through it but we will be holding a solid pace and rarely stopping to regroup.
We will leave the parking lot promptly at 6pm, depending on the light we'll bet an hour to an hour and a half in only so the goal is to bust it out and back to Big Finn Hill.
If are going to be late you may catch us at the stop sign by the entrance or at some point on the trail. We'll pretty much be riding straight across the top out to finn hill.
Thanks!

Join us for our annual Moran State Park work party weekend on Orcas Island September 20th and 21st. We'll be camping out at the Mountain Lake group camp site. Those who want to get there early are welcome to come Friday afternoon or evening. We will have a campfire that evening and maybe catch a late afternoon ride.
We plan on doing trail work along the shore of Mountain Lake raising the tread and doing some drainage near the dam. The site is very close to the camping area. If you catch the 8:45 ferry from Anacortes you will be there in time. The Sunday ride(s) will be varied with no pre-determined end time. Exact ride routes will be discussed Saturday evening based on when people would like to leave.
We're asking that people bring their own food but if folks want to create a community pile, please bring something to share with others. Potlucks are always fun! There will be a camp fire for hot dogs and smores but people intending to cook should bring a stove or expect to share one. Snacks and water will be provided at the work site.

Fall is right around the corner and that means we're gearing up for some high country rides. Sign up for this class and we'll teach you how to master the skills you need to ride safely on single track trails. In addition, we'll teach you how to manage the technical challenge of riding rocks, roots and logs, we don't want anything to keep you from enjoying those beautiful fall colors. With a little practice, you'll be ready for the high country. We look forward to seeing you in class.

Were you new to riding this year? Did you attend Luna Beginner-Slow intermediate rides? Join us for an easy going ride to beautiful Metcalf Trust on Whidbey Island and celebrate all we’ve learned together this summer.
We’ll make a day of it, leaving Seattle at about 9:30 and catching the 10:30 Mukilteo ferry. Then a fun day exploring the beautiful trail system of Metcalf, having lunch together, riding some more and heading home.

This one will be an easy night ride for those with solidly intermediate speed, this ride isn't terribly technical. Bring your charged light and be ready for a quick cruise through S. Seatac. Will get an hour and a half or so of riding in.
Will send out details on where we'll meet later this month. I prefer the library parking lot for safety reasons, but will check out whether or not that's ok these days. : )
If you are going to be late, please call. We plan on leaving the parking lot at 6pm. 206-856-5606.
Thanks!
